Holden: You look sexy as fuck.

I stare at the text from my stepbrother for a solid thirty seconds.

Me: You don’t mind that I stole your jersey?

Holden: I want to rip it off your body. But not because you stole it.

Me: You sure? You look busy. No time for ripping jerseys.

I look up in time to catch him smiling at his phone. The girl sitting on the arm of the couch beside him keeps trying to slowly slide her way into his lap. Am I jealous? Yes. Yes, I am.

Holden: I’ll make the time. You still owe me a kiss, or have you forgotten?

Me: That’s not something I’d ever forget. Come collect.

Biting my lip, I wait until he looks up, our eyes meeting, and then I head upstairs. One of the rooms will be empty. We’re at a haunted frat party on the other side of campus. The haunted house was fun, but the drive was too long. I guess that was the point of the party bus.

The first door I open is a bathroom. Skipping that. The next room is empty, so I close the door behind me and cross my fingers.

Please let Holden come. Please don’t let this be the moment he rejects me.

“We shouldn’t be doing this,” a deep voice says as Holden walks into the room, locking the door behind him.

“Nope.”

“It’s wrong.”

“Very wrong,” I agree.

“Tell me to stop, Rose,” he whispers, but I shake my head as I walk up to him and wrap my arms around his neck.

“Never.” I lean up against him, tilting my head back. “Kiss me,” I whisper.

“Fuck,” his walls crumble, and Holden pulls me against him. The hardness trapped behind his jeans presses into my stomach, and I moan against his lips.
